Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

In light of what looks like a colour revolution in Iran and the Russian troop mobilisation, the r/completeanarchy subreddit on :reddit-logo: has decided to go unironically post left. Like having post left "theory" pinned to the top of the subreddit.

Biggest bunch of :fedposting::cia: losers you've ever seen, I remember when they supported the Bolivian colour revolution.

thank god that I haven't subjected myself to political subreddits of any kind in the last year.

A few years back, like 2016-ish, when I was a very politically confused lib who had pseudo-socialist views but didn't really know what socialism was yet, when I occasionally looked at subreddits, there was quite a lot of sentiment that America shouldn't be the world police, that we need to use the UN more to resolve conflicts and disputes, that - gasp - America might not be all that good (I'm thinking of that video of that series that I think was written by Aaron Sorkin, where the dude's going "America is X in child mortality, Y in education, Z in test scores, etc etc, America sucks" - that video went around a few times).

All of that disappeared in the last couple years, really starting with the Xinjiang propaganda being spread there. Obviously the really ghoulish subreddits where liberals were abound were the first to fall to it, but the left-ish and then outright left communities fell as well. Maybe the chapo subreddit would have similarly met that fate had we not expressed that we didn't like slave-owners, unlike most other redditors.

Regardless, I think the sum total of the revolutionary energy of redditors is about enough to lift a pebble for a few seconds. The revolution won't be the result of a bunch of gold-awarding dipshits.

Chapo subreddit was going in the opposite direction, becoming increasingly tankie. This is one of the reasons I suspect it was banned, the squishies lost control and started reporting it and causing drama.

Genzedong, MoreTankieChapo and Full Communism were similarly quarantined or banned for these reasons.

You cannot oppose American empire on Reddit, it’s an unwritten rule and the admins will find an excuse to destroy you if you do

I interacted with one of the r/completeanarchy and r/anarchism mods on an anarchist discord a while back, seemed very young, completely uninterested in theory, and angry as hell for no real reason

oh and he was very pleased with himself for banning people he considered "tankies" from the subreddits for the crimes of posting in other left subs

Yep the Iran protests is showing up wayyy too much on reddit to be legit. Not even remotely as many posts during the Indian farmer protests.

In the last few days I've seen multiple accounts on Reddit that literally only post stuff about the Iran protests to all the news groups (as well as arguing with people in the comments), they post often enough to where it seems like they're literally doing it as a full time job, it's sus as fuck.

lmao I think that sub could be the first online "anarchist"/"libertarian" space to go full neoconservative, usually it's trots who embarrass themselves like that, but those radlibs and their r/neoliberal mods are really going for the gold

Not surprising of course, couple years ago they had a stickied thread about why rent control was bad with PK the head crypto-neolib of reddit leading the charge

        https://t.me/mangopress/9955

ISIS militants are involved in the protest and among the arrested rebels

        https://t.me/mangopress/9946

Actual Iranian working class is protesting peacefully against the color revolutionaries, similar to what the Cuban people did after color revolt attempt there by reactionaries and compradors, the same class of people involved here

This is all happening right as Iran joins the SCO, becomes strong allies with Russia & moves its army to protect Armenia. Suddenly a bunch of Turkish and Salafist agitators have “legitimate concerns” about fake manufactured bullshit

I didn't assume anything, i wanted something concrete that suggests this is a color revolution, something that has been provided below.

I was talking in general and simply pointing out the concrete was provided the minute western media corporations began emphasizing the protests in a positive light

Media literacy is recognizing media corporates reliant on state access for information do not under any circumstance boost working class movements in the Third World, Chomsky 101 hours

I don't think the cause of the protests is some western plot. Like the laws there are legitimately Draconian for women. Could the protests be exacerbated by western intelligence? Sure. Are Iranians more militant bc sanctions are strangling the economy? Most definitely.

It's a very knee jerk to jump to a full blown colour revolution.

What format would you like personal opinion citations to be? Something like this?

"I think this looks like a color revolution."

            WORKS CITED:

Me, I just said that thing I think

I understand the vitriol but i simply asked if they have something more to suggest that it's a color revolution than "people are burning cop cars in country opposed to US".

I thought it was obvious that i am not waiting for a dissertation and if not, i'm sorry about that.

No worries. I think there was a pretty extensive discussion about the Iran situation further down the megathread that might cover some bases.

Personally I think it's likely that it's a color revolution given the purported video of the woman falling and that the CIA is never not fucking with other nations, but I won't go further than "likely" until further details emerge.

I mean yea compare it to hk where we saw protest leaders meeting with American Congress people and reactionaries waving American flags. Like yea we should base our opinions on evidence.

How else should the OP have asked for more info backing up the color revolution belief?

Even if he was like "not trying to be a debate bro, but any evidence actually suggesting this?", youd still be all pissy.

I'm being uncharitable and equating you with other posters in the thread saying it's a slam dunk colour rev and am sorry that I prob read too much into you posting an emote. Your right it was passive aggressive and I probably shouldn't have latched on to your post.
