-reading groups -skill shares -movie nights (for theory or for fun) -recovery groups -group therapy or support groups -classes or tutoring -writing groups -gaming groups -advice groups

we do actually have a few of those already and if I wasn't so terrified of social interaction they seem really fun

also really good post, I'm a bit busy right now but I'm definitely going to go through this as soon as I can.

Responding to a few points I have issues with:

recovery groups, group therapy or support groups,

I disagree. We have a recovery comm and mental health comm, but an actual official group should have a trained therapist. Allowing someone to lead a therapy group or recovery group without any training is reckless and possibly damaging to members in the group.

Disruption of the enemy (whole paragraph)

This will ensure any kind of vulnerability is no longer possible on Hexbear. We're already the target of reactionaries, but by essentially militarizing an operation to infultrate fascists spaces, doxx them, and bring them down will put even more of a target on everyone here. If you want to organize something like this, it can't be connected to the site if you also want Hexbear to be a positive mental health / social space for comrades.

On a glance this seems like a list of good ideas, but why did you post them on an alt? None of these are offensive ideas, even ones that aren't as thought out. When a new account has strong opinions about the site and suggests we begin infiltrating fascist spaces in a coordinated way on a public site, I'm immediate curious of who you are. I don't think it's bad to disrupt fascist spaces, but there will be consequences to that if it's linked to this site.

They posted in on an "alt" because this is a pathetic intelligence OP. I guarantee they're throwing this shit at all kinds of radical political communities to see who's stupid or desperate enough to take the bait. You wanna end up like those Chuds that tried to kidnap the governor of MI? Then engage with people like the OP!

Exactly, the reason why 4chan's psyops (like project Chanology, old example) were as effective as they were was due in most part, imo, to the completely anonymous nature of the platform and how easy it was to use. Tactics could be instantly shared and judged, and there was little to no risk of retribution as long as the users didn't post any revealing info. In terms of GUI and all that meta shit, this site operates more like reddit, making it less effective for any sort of raid.

If you want to organize something like this, it can’t be connected to the site if you also want Hexbear to be a positive mental health / social space for comrades.

Considering the effort OP went into to make clear that they intend this site to be a safe space for people to form support groups and the like, this is a glaring contradiction in their "strategy".

Hexbear should encourage positive mental and emotional health in its users.

      You're doing your part. :rat-salute:

I think you have good energy, but just because fascist have success with these types of methods doesn't mean we will. It could just turn into a fed hamster wheel. They can use the internet to their favor because it is friendly terrain to them. We just get shadowbanned wherever we go

How about you fuck off back to Langley you creepy apook. This is a place to have fun with randoms, pseudo anonymously, not get recruited by some fucking asshole who took a 40 hour seminar on "infiltrating online extremists" to get free pizza. Seriously, CIA boy, the real "revolution" is when you'd don't feel safe posting this dreck anymore.

Go to therapy if you need mental healthcare. Go to AA/NA if you need to beat an addiction. We can help find resources bear you if you struggle with funds or searching. We ain't doctors tho!!!!

The educational stuff is good, but sometimes I feel like inline/embedded images would be necessary for that. Best way to teach someone is too show them.

I actually really agree with you here. There are two things that should be fixed on this site as a matter of priority, embedded images in comments and as an extension of that images and titles on comms.

The way people misbehave from comm to comm comes from everywhere on this site looking the same, as a result of this people barely notice when they move community and therefore don't change behaviour based on individual community expectations. We can not hope to create independent communities on the site without communities being able to express independent identities.

And it adds sooooo much to commenting that it would completely refresh the whole site. I'm very surprised that it hasn't been brought back yet.

I agree, this place has a lot of unused potential. It would be bad if this place devolved into a shitposting image board - there are plenty of online communities for leftist shitposting but this is the only general purpose leftist forum with an active userbase.

There are already some great initiatives from our users, like the reading group, weekly mental health thread, weekly fitness thread and so on. We should encourage those kind of posts and put them in the spotlight.

Right now, I think our next move should be getting some new members (slowly and organically, of course). The antiwork subreddit would be a great place to start. Most of the people there are completely fucked by capitalism but unaware of any alternatives. Just put hexbear in your flair and start posting.

Maybe it is for you, but there are plenty of people who invested their time and energy to build this site from scratch, keep it running, write effortposts, post daily and weekly megathreads, moderate the forum, ban wreckers and so on. Just because you're not putting any effort into it doesn't mean that other people aren't.

As for its roots, there was a lot of shitposting on CTH but it also served other purposes. Its users radicalized plenty of libs. People shared experiences about canvassing for Bernie and going to protests. It had impact on the real world, no matter how modest.
