The US economy has been fucked for years, now they are attempting a controlled burn off, maybe trying to drive us down into "too big to fail" zone again since it worked out so well for them the last time, while also boosting the MIC infrastructure. The 1% wouldn't ignore increasing social unrest, so pushing the working class toward desperation, food and housing insecurity, or even a tipping point while the militarized police are strong and well funded works to their advantage. That isn't the end game, that is the path of least resistance from where we are now at this stage of collapse. How can they not yet understand that China will pass the US, since it already has by many metrics. I'm not so sure as communists on the internet we have a better grasp of these geopolitics than those who have active influence. I think they are just dishonest and propaganda is an ingrained way of thinking and conveying information. I don't doubt that many in the ruling class still believe in the empire, and have plans to use genocidal regime change tactics to maintain hegemony, but I assure you it's not only leftists who understand those days are over. The "long time frame" I refer to is those who prefer a smooth transition from unipolarity and have a less rabid outlook, although it's more satisfying to believe everyone except us is truly deranged. That, and the idea that the only reason why Russia is needing to inflict massive casualties on Ukraine is pure cruelty rather than that being the reality of war ("Why aren't they rapidly advancing and instead being cowards and bombarding them with artillery from a safe distance?!") and also that taking land from Ukraine isn't necessarily victory. You also see this with people saying that the USSR "lost" their war with Finland.
I hypothetically agree with the idea that Pyrrhic victories exist, but if you're saying that Ukraine can inflict a Pyrrhic victory on Russia despite losing lots of territory if they also manage to weaken Russia's military for a generation or cause massive unrest inside Russia, then I need actual evidence of either of those things happening before I agree, and I don't think there's evidence for either case, despite Ukraine claiming that they've destroyed a billion artillery pieces and half of Russia's army or whatever. And with Zelensky to this day maintaining the fantasy that only 3000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed despite admitting that there are at least 200 deaths a day on the Donbass front, any figures put out by Ukraine are just not at all credible. I generally think that if you give Ukraine's claimed losses to Russia and Ukraine's claimed Russian losses to Ukraine, you will have a substantially more accurate view of the current state of the war, and that the recent admission of massive daily Ukrainian casualties is the first real break from that.
Everything I know about the Fed and the economy in general suggests to me that most of the time, the Fed is playing a video game with a disconnected controller. I don't know about specialist/expert roles in the US army compared to mine but the specialist roles aren't that hard or uncommon to get so it could just be that he went on a month long course to get a nice lil ribbon/medal on his uniform, I wouldn't read too much into it.

The CAA of Free Zaporozhye informs that all children born in the region after February 24 automatically become citizens of Russia. The same will happen in the Kherson region.

Everyone wants to be a US ally until the question of hosting nuclear weapons comes into play. I may well be wrong but this is just pandering, there is no realistic chance Japan will join NATO and therefore be required to host nuclear weapons unless some drastic developments happen.
China and DPRK have nukes, this is a key point and again unless I'm wrong I'm not aware of any major change in the average Japanese taboo regarding nukes recently.

Biden Should Show Iran What ‘Plan B’ Looks Like Bloomberg

President Joe Biden’s administration has said for months that there would come a time when the benefits of reviving the Iran nuclear deal no longer outweighed the costs. That cutoff point, whether US officials admit it or not, may now be weeks away. While diplomacy shouldn’t be abandoned, the US should be using this time to show Iran and its backers what the alternative will look like.
Iran has provoked this crisis. Its stonewalling of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has been investigating nuclear material found at several undeclared sites, prompted a dramatic rebuke last week: Thirty countries voted to censure Iran for its intransigence, with only Russia and China dissenting. Iran has retaliated by removing nearly half of the cameras monitoring its nuclear facilities while announcing plans to install more advanced centrifuges. The IAEA says if the cameras aren’t reconnected within a month, inspectors will no longer be able to verify key details about Iran’s production of nuclear material and equipment.

Even now, the US should remain open to compromise. If Iran can propose a face-saving way to give up on what appears to be the last sticking point — its demand that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps be taken off the State Department’s terrorist organization list — the US should listen. Even an interim deal that freezes Iran’s enrichment and restores IAEA access in exchange for limited sanctions relief may be worth considering.
At the same time, the Biden administration should set aside fears that a tougher approach might derail negotiations. US officials have suggested they’re prepared to shift to a “plan B” if talks fail; they should spell out what that means.
The administration should start by enforcing existing sanctions far more robustly. Iran’s oil exports rose 30% in the first three months of the year; it claims to be selling more oil than at any time since the US reimposed sanctions in 2018, almost all of it to China. The Biden administration needs to track and interdict illegal shipments, and follow through on previous threats to sanction Chinese companies involved in the trade.
Next, the White House needs to assemble a regional coalition to counter Iran. It should work with Arab allies and Israel on integrating air defenses. It should support these partners with intelligence and technologies to counter Iranian missiles and drones, and encourage closer collaboration between Israel and other signatories to the Abraham Accords on weapons research. It should also respond forcefully to any attacks on its forces or interests in the region.
Finally, Biden should reiterate his vow never to allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon. Without setting any red lines publicly, he should make clear to the Iranians that any attempt to enrich uranium to weapons grade or to kick out IAEA inspectors could be a trigger for military action. The US should work closely with Israel on its own capabilities and plans, while continuing high-profile joint military exercises.
Showing that it’s prepared to defend its interests in the absence of a deal may be the best way for the US to convince Iran to sign one.
